July: Sidmouth area

Having booked to stay at a camp site situated on Branscombe air field we headed first to Sidmouth, which is a pretty seaside resort with some interesting shops and a clear-water pebble beach...and there's a plentiful supply of ice cream...I tried 'Honey and Ginger'...Alan went for 'Rum and Raisin'....both delicious!

The camp site was fine, aside from having a 6amp electricity supply, which is almost as outdated as a camp fire, and about as convenient as rubbing two sticks together to create a spark before you can make a cuppa.  Ok...our van has a gas hob...but that's not the point.

Aside from the poor electricity supply all was well...in fact the site offered a welcome 'extra' that evening in the form of a travelling Pizza maker.  Just look at that truck!!!

The airfield was also interesting as we watched a plane that's even older than me!

Whilst in the area we also drove through winding narrow lanes to visit Branscombe village, which is probably the most beautiful village ever!  There's a beach there too, but on this occasion we didn't take a look, but just passed through. We'll be back!

Beer was another place we did visit...

It was also at Beer that I found these two happy little fellas...
