May: South Molton area

This weekend the weather forecast was poor...but we took ourselves to Riverside Country Club South Molton just for one night...hoping the rain would ease.  It was the final weekend before an easing of lockdown measures...and the site was offering take-away meals...including, on Sunday, a full take-away carvery with all the trimmings.  So...off we went!

We took one break during our drive down to South Molton...stopping to walk the dog

and view the Wellington Monument...which is tallest three sided obelisk in the world.  Impressive eh?

Upon arrival at the camping site we went out to explore the lakes and river which run through it...the whole place was gorgeous!

Next morning we headed to Westward Ho!  Where I spotted a row of jelly sweet houses...
before returning to the camp site for Sunday lunch.

After lunch Alan decided to take a tour-route home along the coast road...taking in a 'natures Tens machine' drive through Lynmouth, Lynton and Porlock Hill. This would have been really great had I not had a fear of heights to accompany my full lunch!!!  From there...we continued home across the moors where ghostly clouds formed part of the landscape.
